Witch by Matalas, Fickett & Shasteen

This is not the same Witch-titled comic that appeared in a local kid’s magazine called K-Zone. In fact, this is not “kiddie” at all.

Witch is about a teenage girl who discovers that she is a witch and the recurring voice in her head, is her familiar. Unaware and only will she discover later that she comes from a long line of witches hunted to extinction by so-called Witch Hunters. With the aid of her familiar and a mysterious young man, they embark on the journey to find other witches before the Witch Hunters find them.

Illustration: The art is really good. The characters were drawn really well, especially how the “familiars” look. It gives a different mental image to how “familiars” looked like. (Rating: 4 of 5)

Story: The plot is somewhat cliche to these types of “teenager discovers hidden past” stories but it has its twists. (Rating: 4 of 5)

Overall: Story is kind of generic, but I would still like to find out what happens next.
